Photographs, costumes, paintings, awards: the life of Anna Magnani told in an exhibition 30 years after her death.

Dedicated to Anna Magnani on the 30th anniversary of her death, this exhibition, curated by Luca Magnani and Matilde Hochkofler and promoted in collaboration with Edizioni Interculturali, aims to trace an intense and formerly unseen profile of the great actress.

The exhibition follows the key moments in her artistic and private life, from her first appearances on the stage to the last shot of Fellini's "Roma" through a display of black and white photographs, almost all of them previously unseen, awards, costumes and paintings dedicated to her, works by Renato Guttuso, Renzo Vespignani, Leonor Fini and Giorgio Tabet, as well as a video in four chapters (laughter, animals, the sea, Luca) directed by Elfriede Gaeng, with pictures taken from Luca Magnani's archive.

There are memories of the films from the 1930's, the meeting with Totò, taking up the theatre again, her success with neorealism, the unforgettable performances with Roberto Rossellini and Luchino Visconti, the friendship with Tennessee Williams which brought her an Oscar, the experience with Pier Paolo Pasolini, the return to the stage with Franco Zeffirelli and Giancarlo Menotti, the television films directed by Alfredo Giannetti.

In the wealth of images from her professional and daily lives, there is a clear emergence of the many different aspects of an often contradictory personality, the weakness and the strength, the sadness and happiness, the femininity and the masculine determination to face life and work in a society dominated by men.
